Hailey Hayes, a born and raised Californian performer. As a small child she tried many of the arts including acting and dancing, but one of the things closest to her has been music. At 9 years old she began playing violin through orchestras, she started singing from inspirations like Barbra Streisand at 11. But something that would very quickly stick with her was rock n’ roll. She eventually picked up a guitar and began playing this music everywhere she could, in her room, with her friends, on stage and in the studio. She has been influenced by many artists such as The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, The Ramones and her favorite female inspirations, Joan Jett, The Runaways, and Roni Lee.
What’s Your Dream Gig?
My dream gig, would probably be either playing with or opening for one of my biggest idols, Joan Jett. One of the women who inspired me to pick up a guitar. Her song “Cherry Bomb” was the first song that I had ever sat down and taught myself after getting an electric guitar. She puts on one Hell of a show.
What was the last concert you attended?
The last concert I attended was actually a Joan Jett concert. I went with a lot of friends from all over California. It was a big charity function for the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center hosted by Linda Perry at The Roxy. There were all kinds of icons floating around including Sharon and Ozzy.
What was the first album you bought?
I can’t remember my first CD. I do, however, remember my first tape was “La Bamba”. I was obsessed. Five years old and I didn’t even understand what it was saying, but it was my favorite. I started collecting records when I was 11. I had a goal to get every Barbra Streisand album I can find. Now my collection has a lot more classic rock and 80s including Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Venus & The Razorblades, The Runaways, Kiss, The Stones, the list goes on.
