LAURIE BEEBE LEWIS
Originally from Saginaw, Michigan, vocalist Laurie Beebe Lewis with legendary band Pitche Blende frequently toured with Bob Seger, Savoy Brown, Alice Cooper in the late 60’s & early 1970’s. Laurie’s move to Chicago gave her an opportunity to work in the recording industry as a vocalist as well as live performances with Big Band Leader, Les Elgart, Jim Beebe’s Chicago Jazz, The Spinners and “The Buckinghams” who were featured on ‘The 1985 Happy Together Tour’ with The Turtles, Gary Lewis, and The Grassroots, playing to SRO audiences in 125 cities and proclaimed one of the most successful tours that year by Billboard and Performance magazines. She also recorded an album in 1997 with Gary Puckett entitled “Is This Love.”
Moving to San Diego, CA. in 1986 to be with husband, Chuck Lewis, Laurie continued to perform with various artists including The Monroes and co-arranged vocals with Wayne Nelson, lead singer/bassist of “The Little River Band”.
Laurie joined The Mamas & the Papas in 1986 and toured with them both nationally and internationally as a replacement for friend & actress/singer, Mackenzie Philips. The folk-rock vocal line-up included original Papas John Phillips & Denny Doherty, Spanky McFarlane and Laurie Beebe-Lewis. Soon after, Laurie joined Spanky who reformed her group “Spanky & Our Gang”.
Presently, Laurie continues to perform in the San Diego and Greater Los Angeles areas. She is in the midst of recording her 4th album. Her recent recording “If I Had The Time (I Could Change The World)” with legendary rock guitarist/ songwriter Dick Wagner on the Rockers for St Jude project brought iconic musicians together world- wide. What are your musical goals?
Presently, I would just like to finish the album that I’m working on and get some airplay and put an amazing band together to perform live. With the experience that I have had in my life I would love to pass it on to younger artists and produce and write for them!
